BBP SCOOPS CIBSE TOP CLIENT AWARD
09/02/2011
The
Better Buildings Partnership has scooped the “Client of the Year (large)” prize at the CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2011 for work in cutting carbon emissions from London’s commercial buildings.
The BBP was recognised for its efforts in developing practical guidance for the commercial property market with a key focus on multi-occupied buildings – often the hardest sector in which to drive CO2 emission reductions. Additionally, the BBP was commended for its work in measuring and monitoring energy performance across its own portfolio: reducing CO2 emissions per m2 by 13% between Jan 2009-Jan 2010 and making absolute savings on its like-for-like portfolio (properties included within both years of data collection) of 5.2%.
“They have grabbed the low-hung fruit and increased energy efficiency impressively. This has brought down the carbon footprint across a whole array of properties.” said one of the judges.
“I’m delighted that the hard work of the Better Buildings Partnership and the commitment of the Mayor of London has received such high praise and recognition from CIBSE, who are a key source of expertise on sustainable buildings. We press on with our important work and hope that the property industry will continue to benefit from our outputs and the example set by our members” said Keith Bugden, BBP Programme Director
