BBP LAUNCH BEST PRACTISE CASE STUDIES

26/10/2011

The Better Buildings Partnership have today published a suite of best practise case studies which highlight the opportunities that exist to improve the environmental performance of existing commercial buildings. The case studies are freely available on the BBP website.

BBP members including British Land, Canary Wharf Group, GE Capital Real Estate, Hammerson, Hermes, Legal & General, PRUPIM have showcased a number of projects they’ve undertaken to improve the environmental performance of their building stock and demonstrate the savings, both financial and in terms of CO2, that can be achieved. These are practical solutions to reduce energy use, improve waste management and develop effective landlord tenant partnerships.

Examples range from automated meter reading systems saving British Land over £140,000 and reducing energy consumption by 38% at their Head Office, York House; a landlord tenant engagement project by Legal & General Property at 99 Gresham Street reducing energy, water and waste and saving occupiers £70,000 a year; to the roll-out of a portfolio wide Environmental Management System by PRUPIM.

We hope these case studies demonstrate, not only some of the great work our members are doing, but what can be achieved across the wider industry. There’s no reason why any number of the initiatives demonstrated in these case studies cannot be replicated across a significant number of buildings in the UK.
