Owner Occupier Partnerships

The single most important issue in sustainable building retrofit is for owners and occupiers to work together to achieve carbon emission reductions. This Working Group brings together owners and occupiers to break down the barriers to collaboration.

Most of the solutions being developed by other BBP Working Groups will be brought to this Working Group so that owners and occupiers can work together to trial them and then recommend them to the wider industry.

This includes working together to set up green leases, data sharing for benchmarking, and financing sustainable retrofit work. BBP members will encourage their tenants to establish joint carbon reduction programmes and work together to achieve the carbon emissions benchmarks.

This work will be supported through the Green500 programme, where Green500 members will be encouraged and supported in engaging with their landlords and developing a joint carbon reduction programme.

London Green500 is a scheme designed to encourage, nurture, acknowledge and recognise businesses that are putting green practices into action in the workplace by offering services and practical support combined with a recognition scheme. The London Green500 will help businesses "go green" and achieve recognition for this.

Members of the Green 500 will be encouraged to partner with BBP members and commit to work together towards achieving the sustainability and carbon emissions benchmarks.
