Transport for London (TfL) has been awarded a grant totalling more than £14m from the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS), which is delivered by Salix on behalf of the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero, to reduce carbon emissions at six head office sites on TfL's London-wide estate.

The grant is primarily for the removal of gas boilers older than 15 years and replacement with all electric heat pump technology. It will also see energy efficiency improvements to reduce other electrical demand via installation of solar panels, LED lighting, improved glazing and wall insulation and better heating, ventilation and air conditioning controls. This includes TfL’s Palestra office in Southwark, which currently represents 45 per cent of all TfL head office gas use and 22 per cent of TfL's office carbon emissions, along with two office sites now owned by TfL’s wholly owned subsidiary Places for London.
