Bruntwood has become the latest organisation to join the Better Building Partnership’s industry leading Climate Commitment. Bruntwood is the seventh organisation to join the Commitment in 2022, which now represents 36 organisations with over £400Bn AUM globally. 

Bruntwood has committed to be a net zero business by 2050, when they will have removed fossil fuel powered heating and hot water from all buildings across their portfolio. Bruntwood have targeted all areas under their direct control to be net zero carbon by 2030. Their pathway outlines specific targets to reach by the end of 2022, 2025 and 2030.  

To support Bruntwood’s ambitious plans to reduce embodied carbon, they are also developing the UK’s lowest carbon new build workspace, Ev0. The Ev0 Building will be Bruntwood’s first project to meet the LETI 2020 design targets for ‘upfront carbon’, RIBA’s 2025 targets for whole life carbon and the UKGBC's Paris Proof operational energy use targets, targeting NABERS 5.5 stars and BREEAM Excellent ratings. The BBP Climate Commitment requires signatories to publish net zero carbon pathways and delivery plans, disclose the energy performance of their assets and develop comprehensive climate resilience strategies. To support signatories, the BBP has published the Climate Resilience Guide and Net Zero Carbon Pathway Framework, and has an ongoing programme of work to support its members on their journeys to Net Zero Carbon.
