03 June 2026The Better Buildings Partnership (BBP) is pleased to announce that the King’s Cross Group has joined its membership, bringing one of the UK’s most significant long-term urban regeneration projects into the Partnership’s collaborative sustainability programme.
The King’s Cross estate has been widely recognised as a leading example of modern placemaking, demonstrating how large-scale development can integrate environmental ambition, community focus and commercial success. Spanning 67 acres, including 27 acres of public space, the estate today supports a thriving mixed-use neighbourhood where over 41,000 people live, work and study, and welcomes more than 19 million visitors each year. It is also home to a diverse range of global occupiers, including major organisations such as Google and Meta, alongside a vibrant mix of creative and independent businesses.
As long-term owner and asset manager, the King’s Cross Group oversees the stewardship of this complex estate, guiding its continued evolution into a dynamic district that brings together commercial, cultural, residential and public uses. Over the past decade, King’s Cross has undergone a substantial transformation, combining the sensitive restoration of heritage assets with the delivery of new high-performing buildings and an extensive, high-quality public realm.
The King’s Cross Group’s commitment to responsible investment and long-term asset management aligns strongly with BBP’s mission to accelerate sustainability across the built environment. Its experience in managing a large-scale, mixed-use estate at neighbourhood level brings valuable insight into how sustainability, occupier engagement and operational performance can be delivered in practice across diverse asset types and uses.
King’s Cross Group’s membership will further strengthen BBP’s collective ability to share best practice and drive progress. In particular, its experience of long-term stewardship and place-based development will add valuable insight into how the built environment can support the transition to a more sustainable future.
Sarah Ratcliffe, CEO of the Better Buildings Partnership, said: “We are delighted to welcome the Kings Cross Group to the BBP, reflecting their commitment to sustainability. Their experience of the long-term stewardship of a unique and diverse large-scale regeneration district will make a valuable addition to the membership and we look forward to involving them in the BBP’s wide ranging and impactful work programme.”
Angeliki Krania CEng MCIBSE, Senior Sustainability Manager, King’s Cross Group, said: “We’re proud to join the Better Buildings Partnership and work alongside industry leaders to drive meaningful industry change.
