Lendlease Europe releases Roadmap to Absolute Zero Carbon

15 December 2020

Lendlease Europe outlines how they intend to achieve the company’s global target of becoming a 1.5°C aligned company in their new Roadmap to Absolute Zero Carbon.

Lendlease recognises that, in order to minimise the impact of climate change on livelihoods and ecosystems around the world, global temperatures must be prevented from rising above 1.5°C.

To achieve this, the globally integrated real estate and investment group believes it is essential to eradicate emissions from the built environment and has therefore set a target to be a 1.5°C aligned company. This means they will achieve:

  • Net Zero Carbon by 2025 for Scope 1 emissions, produced directly from the fuels we burn, and Scope 2 emissions from the power we consume.
  • Absolute Zero Carbon by 2040, eliminating all emissions, including Scope 3 generated indirectly from our activities, without the use of offsets.

As a regional business, Lendlease Europe (UK and Italy) has outlined how they intend to achieve this target in their new Roadmap to Absolute Zero Carbon. The document outlines interim targets and key milestones that the business aims to achieve over the next 20 years, addressing both operational and embodied carbon emission reductions. In disclosing their Europe roadmap to Absolute Zero Carbon, they are addressing the requirements of the Better Building Partnership’s Climate Change Commitment, which Lendlease Europe is a signatory to.
