BBP Announces Surrey Research Park as Latest Member

The Better Buildings Partnership has today announced the joining of Surrey Research Park to its membership. Their joining takes the membership up to 49 members.

Surrey Research Park, which is wholly owned by the University of Surrey, is located in Guildford and currently has 600,000ft2 of developed space, set over 70 acres, and is fully let to over 200 innovative companies employing approximately 4500 staff. 

With a strong commitment to sustainability, Surrey Research Park aims to provide a compelling and sustainable environment for innovation companies to grow, and builds on sustainability leadership from the University of Surrey. In January 2020, the University was one of the first academic institutions nationally to set an ambitious carbon reduction target of net zero by 2030. 

Surrey Research Park are currently coordinating a global sustainability subnetwork with the International Association of Science Parks. The organisation is the first dedicated Innovation Park nationally to become a member of the BBP.

Grant Bourhill, CEO, Surrey Research Park, said: “There is an ever-increasing market demand from businesses, the investment community and Government to support sustainability targets and practices and we recognise the importance of working together, not only in partnership with our customers, but others in industry to enable the transition required.  I am delighted we are the first dedicated innovation Park nationally to join the BBP.”
