The Better Buildings Partnership (BBP) is delighted to welcome Stanhope Plc as its newest member, joining a collaboration of more than 56 of the UK’s leading property owners committed to driving sustainability across the built environment. Together, BBP members represent £362bn assets under management (AUM).

With over four decades of experience and more than 40 million sq. ft. of development expertise, Stanhope shapes places with diverse and complex functions; from science hubs and opera houses to global office headquarters. The business has played a key role in developing and asset managing some of London’s most dynamic and longstanding landmarks, including Tate Modern and the Television Centre.

As a Certified B Corp, Stanhope leverages its business as a force for environmental and social good, aiming to deliver buildings and urban spaces that are resilient, sustainable and community focused. Stanhope is committed to achieving net zero carbon by 2030, targeting a 50% reduction in embodied carbon and halving carbon intensity across its value chain.  Stanhope pioneers a Design for Performance (DfP) approach under NABERS UK, ensuring new developments are optimised for energy efficiency.

Stanhope’s membership strengthens BBP’s efforts to accelerate sustainability across the built environment. We look forward to learning from their experiences in delivering complex, low carbon developments, while providing opportunities to collaborate, share knowledge, and drive best practice alongside other leading property owners.

Sarah Ratcliffe, CEO, Better Buildings Partnership said: “We are thrilled to welcome Stanhope to the BBP. Their strong track record in delivering innovative, low-carbon developments will bring valuable insights to the membership. We look forward to working with them to drive market transformation across the sector.”

Dan Rafferty, ESG and Technical Director, Stanhope PLC said: “We’re delighted that Stanhope have become members of the BBP and will be able to contribute to the progress of sustainability across the commercial real estate sector. Our membership gives us a valuable opportunity to collaborate with industry leaders and help drive meaningful change toward a more sustainable built environment.”
