Initiated as part of the BBP's Climate Commitment published earlier this year, this Forum seeks to bring together senior real-estate decision makers to collaborate with the objective of delivering net zero carbon buildings by 2050.
The BBP’s Climate Commitment acknowledged that with as much as 70% of a buildings’ emissions attributable to occupiers activities their commitment to tackle climate change cannot be delivered without closer collaboration.
One of the greatest challenges in achieving net zero carbon buildings lies in the relationship between owners and occupiers; whilst they have zero carbon targets in common, a series of institutional, technical & legal barriers have made progress challenging. The Owner & Occupier Forum will enable owners and occupiers to tackle these barriers by creating strategic alliances, and share knowledge to scale up action across portfolios. The BBP is collaborating with several major stakeholder bodies to encourage occupier participation in the Forum including: The Climate Group, the Hospitality Carbon Reduction Forum, CoreNet Global UK Chapter and the Innovation Gateway.
